Honest Aiyapura Hotel Review: The Best Bangkok Budget Hotel with Swimming Pool, Gym & Close to BTS

Feature Page Aiyapura Hotel Review

Looking for where to stay in Bangkok Thailand with a large private room, swimming pool, gym facility, and most importantly budget-friendly? Check out our Aiyapura Hotel Review in Bangkok!

It is a very underrated budget hotel in Bangkok city center with spacious private rooms, school standard swimming pool, a well-equipped gym facility, and within 10 10-minute walk to BTS station. With all these perks, the average room rate is below USD 20 per day for two persons even during the peak tourist season.

Bangkok with one of the most popular tourist destinations. It has good cheap food, apparel, accessories, spas, and basically everything you need. However, accommodation could be costly as compared to other ASEAN countries like Vietnam and Malaysia.

A single bed in 16 people dormitory could cost you more than USD 10 and some go beyond USD 20 if you select those in prime areas or during peak tourist season. If you want to keep your body in shape like me during travel, adding a gym to your accommodation would triple your cost.

Luckily, with all the searches I finally found a cheap hotel near Bangkok’s city center with a swimming pool and gym. Aiyapura Hotel is not only a budget hotel in Bangkok but also a convenient one.

I chose this hotel twice in Bangkok these years with first time on a solo and the second time on a family basis. Unfortunately, I do not see any Bangkok hotel recommendation dedicated to this one, and the comments on Booking.com could be controversial.

So I decided to write an Aiyapura hotel review for you.

Rooms in Aiyapura Hotel

One highlight of Aiyapura Hotel review is its spacious rooms. The rooms are very large and well-equipped beyond your imagination. Although the size may vary, all the rooms include a private bathroom (with good hot water), an air dryer, an air-conditioner, a fan, a kitchen sink, a water boiler, a fridge, a make-up desk with chair, a dinner table with two chairs and a double or king-size bed.

Don’t you think it is a lot for merely USD 20 a night?

Each day you will have two towels, two bottles of water, and two coffee powders. Plus there is a balcony in each room, so you can take your clothes out for drying each day.   The light in some rooms could be a bit dim but I definitely had great sleep there. Additionally, the balcony also allowed me to bring a lot fewer clothes to Bangkok, leaving leaving more room for souvenirs.

Aiyapura Hotel – The Gym

The gym in the hotel opens daily from 11 am to 9 pm. For weight training, there are multiple machines for your push, pull, and leg days. There is also an area with dumbbells up to 25kg and also a barbell for chest push and squad.

With all these equipment, you can definitely keep your training while traveling in Bangkok.

There are also several treadmill and elliptical machines for your cardio sessions. There is also a water dispenser at the gym to keep you hydrated.

Aiyapura Hotel – The swimming pool

The swimming pool opens daily from 8:30 am to 9 pm. It is a very large pool with a depth of 1.25 – 1.5m. There are several swim boards available for use and also a little waterslide nearby.

The pool is definitely comparable to most schools’ standards and larger than most of the hotels (even the 5-star one). It is a good pool for cardio training or family fun, especially during the hot Bangkok weather.

Aiyapura Hotel – A convenient hotel located near Wongwian Yai station

Other than the facilities and the room, Aiyapura is also located in a good area. First, there are two convenience shops nearby open til midnight (7-11 and daily). There are multiple coffee shops and local restaurants. Other than that you will also see different hawkers selling local food such as skewers, roti, and other Thai food at a cheap price (a skewer is only 10 THB).

There is also a 24-hour laundry shop near the hotel in case you need it.

Most importantly, the hotel is located 10 minutes from Wongwian Yai BTS station. The station is one of the stations on the Silom line.

It takes around 15 minutes for you to get from Wongwian Yai station to Siam station (without changing lines). The Siam station is where you will find tourist icons like Central World, Siam Paragon, Erwan Shrine, and Big C Headquarters.

It takes less than 5 minutes to get from Wongwian Yai station to Sapan Taksin. Sapan Taksin is where you can take a local ferry to visit Wat Arun, Wat Phra, The Grand Palace, and Chinatown.

If you are planning to visit the Asoke area, it could take a bit more time around 30 minutes as you need to change to Sukhumvit Line at Siam station. The same goes for visits to the Chatuchak market.

With the proximity to the BTS station, the Aiyapura Hotel suits your itinerary in Bangkok.

Check in & Check out time

The check-out time is at 12pm and check-in time is at 2 pm – 7 pm.

The front office is open until 9 pm, so I suppose it would be okay if you are a bit late. As for check-out time, late check-out would be available but I never tried.

Things that may not be good

Nothing is perfect. There are also things that you may want to consider before choosing the hotel.

First, it seems that the call provided on Booking.com does not work. You may not be able to call the hotel if there is any change of plan.  However, I have to mention I stayed in the hotel twice and the check-ins were perfectly fine.

The hotel is relatively old, so it could look a bit old-fashioned and somewhat scary (due to the spacious room) if you travel solo.

The path from BTS station to the hotel is only one straight line but as usual, it could be crowded with cars like everywhere in Bangkok. The gym opening time is tricky and you may need to adjust your itinerary (i.e. late departure or early come back) to fit in your training time.

Again it is a budget hotel in Bangkok that costs you less than USD 20 per night for 2 persons. I don’t think it would be fair to ask for too much, given it has already far exceeded our expectations.

Conclusion

I hope you find my Aiyapura Hotel review useful. I have been there twice, I love the low cost, the room, and the facility. I enjoyed my Bangkok travel with my stay in the hotel.

Thus, I sincerely recommend you to give it a try if you are also looking for a place where you can maintain your training regime and travel in Bangkok.

Drop me a comment about your stay in the hotel. Cheers ~
