Greek Island Mykonos – 3 Day Itinerary

Greece island hopping Mykonos Windmill

After enduring a turbulent four-hour ferry ride from Santorini, we have finally arrived Mykonos ! Despite our limited time of 3 days and 2 nights, we made the most in our Greek Island Mykonos – 3 Day Itinerary.

In this blog post, I will show you our captivating journey through Mykonos, recounting our personal encounters throughout the 3 day journeys. In that, we will introduce you must-see attractions on the island. I have to admit we stayed a bit too short in Mykonos due to the ferry schedule but we were still able to make the most in the 3 day iteinerary.

Day 1: Arrival At The New Port

Arriving at the port at 7:00 PM, we had to take a taxi due to absence of public transport in non-peak season. After settling into a very spacious apartment, we headed to a supermarket called AB Market to prepare dinner.

As the evening unfolded, we couldn’t resist witnessing the magical sunset in the City Center. The vibrant hues painted the sky, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for our first night in Mykonos. Overall, Mykonos felt more spacious than Santorini. For that, we felt more cozy here.

Day 2: Walking Around The Island

As this is the only full day for our Greek Island Mykonos – 3 Day Itinerary, we placed our full energy here. Waking up very early in the morning, we began with a visit to Boni’s Windmill. Nestled atop the uptown area of Mykonos, this magnificent single windmill offered us a panoramic vista of the entire downtown Mykonos. With that, I immediately decided to take some pre-wedding shootings here.

More Pre-wedding Photos In The Streets of Mykonos

From there, we meandered through the captivating streets of Mykonos, drinking in the sight of traditional white-washed buildings and charming decorations. Every corner seemed like a photo opportunity, with picturesque alleys showcasing pristine white houses and boutiques. Particularly, we loved a staircase with l”I Love Mykonos” on it and a boutique with “Happiness” on top.

The Windmills of Mykonos

After around 10 minutes walk, we reached the most representative icon of Mykonos – the Windmills of Mykonos. The six windmills along with a clear blue sky constitute a heavenly view for us to complete our pre-wedding photo shoot on the island.

The Little Venice & Panagia Paraportiani (Marshmallow Church)

Subsequent to the Windmills, we ventured towards Little Venice, situated in direct contrast to the Windmills of Mykonos. The neighborhood with its quaint houses perched on the water’s edge again formed a very compelling picture. Walking a bit further, we came across the famous Panagia Paraportiani, also known as the Marshmallow Church.

Walking Around The Coastal

After enjoying the cluster of icons, we walked along the coastal area with a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops. We discovered a blue dome church in the middle, adding to the island’s allure. From there, we strolled to the Old Port for more pictures before heading back to the apartment for a rest.

Hidden Gems of Mykonos : Sunset At St. Vasileios Church

As the final part, we chose to appreciate the sunset of Mykonos somewhere special. Although the Sunset bar was closed, we were lucky enough to discover a hidden gem. Adjacent to the ascending slope of St. Vasileios Church, we found the best place for Sunset in Mykonos.

Positioned near the pinnacle of the church, we could enjoy the ethereal sight of the sun’s rays piercing through the cross atop the church. With that, it was a truly unforgettable experience on the island.

Wrapping Up The Greek Island Mykonos – 3 Day Itinerary

It’s a pity that we had to leave very early for the ferry back to Athens and the subsequent flight to Skopje.

Although we had only one full day in Mykonos, it was ample to cover most of the extraordinary icons forming our Greek Island Mykonos – 3 Day Itinerary.

If you have a couple of days more in Mykonos, I would suggest also visiting the Delos island. From the online saerch, it is an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Archaeological Site. Furthermore, you could also just chill and enjoy the pleasant island at any restaurant near the coastaline.
