A Guide For Optimal Visit Days & Itinerary – Nha Trang Vietnam

Nha Trang 3 Day Itinerary Feature Page

Nha Trang is only worth visiting for a 3 full day visit, given you have already done Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. It is a coastal city with unique activities such as mud baths, boat trips, record-breaking theme parks, and other local icons.

Most of them are fascinating but none are worth a dedicated trip to there. This is especially true if you only have less than a week in Vietnam, let alone you may fly from Europe or the US. I went to Nha Trang as a part of my 10-day Vietnam trip.

I found it good and worth going but not to the extent of must-go.

If you too are looking into adding Nha Trang to your wider Vietnam travel, a 3 full day or 4 days including flight transit shall be more than enough.

EscapeWithAnnualLeave brings you the below 3 (or 4 days) Nha Trang Itinerary based on exclusive personal experience.

Day 1 in Nha Trang: Go For Water Activities

As a coastal city, the most unique things you can do in Nha Trang as compared to Hanoi or HCM are water activities. Equipped with the long Nha Trang beaches and multiple islands i.e. Hon Tre, Hon Mun, and Monkey Island.

You can expect a large variety of water activities there. So I recommend you go for a boat trip on your first full day in Nha Trang. Most of the boat trips depart in the morning around 8 am and return to your hotel at around 4 pm.

There are different packages provided by reputable online travel agencies such as Klook, KKday, and Viator. You can go snorkeling, island hopping, boat parties, and even scuba diving there.

Not sure which one to pick? Check out our blog post about the boat trip day tour in Nha Trang.

After the boat trip, I recommend you to go for the next unique to-do in Nha Trang. That is to have local seafood. There are a variety of choices locally and all are very affordable. Even the highest-end option i.e. buffet at the hotel is only around ~40 USD and even if you opt for a local seafood buffet it would only be ~ 10 USD.

Day 2 in Nha Trang : Head For Vinpearl

Vinpearl is a recently founded resort island in Nha Trang. It has lots of special things that you should not miss locally. First, it has a record-breaking cable car with a stunning view connecting the main island and the resort island. Make sure you take the departure ride in the morning and the return ride at night, so that you enjoy both great scenes.

Even if you are not staying in the resort, there are lots of shops and icons on the island. Plus, it has affordable attractions such as go-kart races and mini-games there. Most importantly, it is also an island with Vinwonders!

A record-breaking theme park locally provides you with animal exhibitions, thrilling rides, fantasy rides, shows, and even a full-scale waterpark in one go. Vinwonders definitely takes you at least one full day. For a details guide on how to navigate the wonderland, check out our review for Vinwonders.

With the complimentary, stunt show at Vinpearl Marine Bay at 9:15 pm. You can spend a well full day there.

Day 3 in Nha Trang: Enjoy The Mud Bath

On day three, you should go for the Mud bath in Nha Trang. There are several famous providers locally including Thap Ba, I-resort, Galina Hotel, and Hon Tam Resort Island.

I chose to go to Hon Tam Resort island during my visit. It has a unique mud tube, a nice infinity pool, and a superb buffet. The facility there can occupy you for a good half-day. For more details, take a look at our journey at Hon Tam Island.

Alternatively, you can also go for I-resort which has a waterpark other than a mud bath, or Thap Ba (where the mud quality seems to be the highest).

After completing the mud bath, you can use the remaining day for the final rush for souvenirs. There is a mart called “Sieu Thi Ngoc Thach” with lots of varieties at a decent price.

Or you can also the Nha Trang night market (Kinh Chao Quy Khach). It is a street with local vendors selling snacks, coffee, and other souvenirs. However, you may find things a bit overpriced there.

On the final night at Nha Trang, don’t forget the local bars to socialize with the locals.

Day 4 in Nha Trang: Hunt For The Remaining Icons

There are a few in-city attractions such as Incense Tower, Long Son Pagoda, Hon Chong, and Mountain Church available there. All of them are reachable with a short ride or grab or even via walking.

Personally, I find those very similar to other places in Vietnam. So I would recommend you to utilize your last half day or first half day to cover them.

Or I would just skip them and enjoy my gap time before or after the flight at Nha Trang beach.
